Being US Citizen wont do you any good as far as work permit is concerned, because rules are same for everyone who is not from EU/Schengen. You need to find a job first, where ur employer can sponsor you for work permit, then its his job to file the case & get a work permit for you. Good luck.

Is it better to marry a German national who is working in Switzerland in Switzerland or in Germany?
I am an Indian citizen. We want to get married and we are not sure if we should do it in Switzerland or Germany. Our desire is that since Switzerland is a nice country we would like to get married over there. But legally, we know that getting married in Germany would hold a much stronger case for me to get a long-term stay in Switzerland as an EU Spouse. Anybody out there with any valuable information?

You want to get married in Germany. I was in a similar situation and believe me, it will work out better for you to marry in Germany.

Don't take it personal, please - but let me tell you very directly that you have minimal to absolutely no chances to get a job here in Switzerland with your skills. Only people that can provide (and prove it) that they have highly specialized skills and who are of Swiss or EU nationality (in rare cases also other nationals), can apply for a job here.
