Will I be able to work in Switzerland as a U.S. citizen

Will I be able to work in Switzerland as a U.S. citizen?
I'm an American high school student with a desire to go to an American accredited college in Switzerland. However, I've briefly read up on some American students who went to school in Switzerland and they stated they were unable to get work once they moved there. I'm wondering if this is true; if I am an American going to college in Switzerland will I be able to work in the country? Thanks, all helpful comments appreciated!

You can work 20 hours per week if you first obtain a student visa from the embassy in the US, then you obtain a "permis de sejour", then once you find a job, you can apply for permission to work from your university, then a work permit. You are allowed to work more hours if you stay during the school breaks. Americans are entitled to work student jobs as long as you have a "permis"... it's just the question of finding a job that's the hard part.

I worked for a year in Geneva as and au pair. The best job ever! I was with a great family! I was a student taking french classes and getting to travel all over Europe on the weekends. Pretty good money, room and board, bus card, and use of a car but I didn't need to use it b/c the bus/train system is awesome. I wish the US would try something like it. Switzerland is the most beautiful country and there is so much to see and do. The Swiss people are very friendly and warm.
