will my sharp hd LCD work in switzerland

will my sharp hd LCD work in switzerland?
Manual says AC1 20V 60hz (for north america) and AC 110-240 V, 50]/60 hz (for others). It comes with the PAL color system used in switzerland, but I am unable to tell if the power rating will be ok. Any help, i would be grateful.

The Swiss AC outlets are a different physical format than that used in the US. Their power is 250 V AC at 50 Hz. Adapters exist for these issues. Your tuner will not be compatible with that needed in Switzerland for analog reception: PAL in the German zone or SECAM L in the French zone versus NTSC in the US. Your digital tuner will not be compatible with that needed in Switzerland when they convert to digital in 2009: DVB-T versus ATSC in the US. The bottom line is that you will be better off leaving your Sharp in the US.

How does Direct Democracy work in Switzerland

How does Direct Democracy work in Switzerland?

Switzerland is the best current example of direct democracy, using both initiative and referendum. In the initiative process, citizens gather petitions to force an election (referendum) on a proposed law. In Switzerland over the last 120 years, about 240 issues have been put to referendum, only about 10% have gained approval. At lower levels, referenda only require a majority of voters to pass, but at the national level, both a majority of voters and a majority of voting states are required. This prevents states with small populations from being unfairly represented. The Swiss got the idea of double majority from the US Congress, which has both the House of Representatives (representation proportional to population of each state) and the Senate (same representation for each state)

In Porto Alegre, Brazil, some direct democracy is involved for deciding the budget. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Participatory_budgeting

Depends on which country you are from. If you are a citizen of certain places, like in North or South America (except Belize, Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Peru), Europe, Japan, Australia and New Zealand you can stay for up to 90 days with just a passport. In general, when you are wondering the maximum number of days on a tourist visa or eligibility you should check with the website of the Consulate General of the country you want to visit, for the country you are from.

You can get a visa from atime period of 1 month - to 6 months. It depends on the consulate rules in the country you live in now.
