How does Switzerland's government work?
I've heard that Switzerland is a direct democracy rather than a representative democracy. Is this true and in any case how does it operate?

If you have all papers right and conditions met, then the approval process itself would take about 4-6 wks. If you don't have the papers yet, it may take anything between 3 months and .... eternity.

Well, which is your nationality? For non-European residents it's quite difficult or even impossible to get a working and living permit. Exceptions: The employer can make believe that he won't find someone with your qualification inside Europe - perhaps due to a job in contact with persons in your country of origin? Or an international company would send you to Switzerland to work if you had worked in your home country for them before.
